Alén Space presents its TRISKEL solution that integrates OBC, TTC and OBSW

June 29, 2021

On June 10, Alén Space participated in ‘The Space Industry’, a Satsearch podcast that brings knowledge about New Space companies and their projects through the professionals behind them, their opinions and expertise.

On this occasion, Isolina Pérez Donnelly, sales manager at Alén Space, was interviewed on the podcast.  The show addressed the integration of the data handling ecosystem in small satellite missions.

Isolina Pérez Donnelly highlighted the TRISKEL solution, with which Alén Space integrates in a single module the elements that make up the communications, and command and data handling systems:

  • On-board Computer (OBC).
  • Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TTC).
  • On-board Software (OBS).

The sales manager at Alén Space explained that TRISKEL allows “avoiding compatibility problems between different vendors,” in addition to providing other important advantages: “We see the combination of OBC, TTC and OBSW as the core of our platforms. This gives us great control in the software integration of all the satellite elements and allows to reduce the development times of new missions. Also, we have designed this solution to be compatible by design with many subsystems and vendors.”

TRISKEL is a PnP (Plug-and-Play) product that, without any extra configuration, can be perfectly adapted to different types of space projects. “We can build any mission with this complete data handling chain, it does not matter the size of the satellite or the payload,” Isolina Pérez Donnelly explained.

In the interview other projects developed by Alén Space were analysed, such as GS-Kit, a comprehensive solution to monitor Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, and the TOTEM payload, an advanced SDR platform developed specifically for small satellites, with flight heritage, remote in-flight reconfiguration and the ability to operate in different frequency bands.
